Kareena Kapoor has publicly addressed the harrowing incident involving her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, who was attacked during an alleged burglary attempt at their Mumbai residence. Sharing a heartfelt note on Instagram, Kareena called for privacy and respect as their family processes the traumatic event.
“It has been an incredibly challenging day for our family, and we are still trying to process the events that have unfolded. As we navigate this difficult time, I respectfully and humbly request that the media and paparazzi refrain from relentless speculation and coverage,” Kareena wrote in her statement.
She added, “While we appreciate the concern and support, the constant scrutiny and attention are not only overwhelming but also pose a significant risk to our safety. I kindly request that you respect our boundaries and give us the space we need to heal and cope as a family.”
The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday at Saif and Kareena’s 12th-floor apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra area. An intruder reportedly entered the residence, attacked Saif with a knife, and demanded money. Saif, 54, sustained six injuries, including two deep wounds near his spine. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital by his staff in an auto rickshaw, where an emergency surgery was performed to remove the knife. According to the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Saif is stable and out of danger.
Kareena’s appeal for privacy was met with overwhelming support from the film fraternity. Celebrities like Arjun Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Konkona Sensharma echoed her sentiments. “It is only fair that this is read, heard, and respectfully understood by all of us,” wrote Arjun Kapoor, while Konkona urged, “Please leave them alone! We don’t need to see them enter and exit the hospital.”
The incident has sparked conversations about celebrity privacy and safety in the face of public and media scrutiny. Kareena concluded her statement with gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation during this sensitive time.”
